May 5, 2012
We've played just over 50 shows since June 2010, and we can say that without question, Saturday night at Mike 'n Molly's was high up on the list of our best shows. The weather was absolutely perfect, the crowd was excellent, and we had The Sugar Prophets on the bill with us, too. The originals were very well received, and the covers brought out some major crowd interaction (especially Seven Nation Army). We'll be back at Mike 'n Molly's on Friday, July 27. In the meantime, we're preparing for an upcoming stretch of shows out of town, including Paxton, Pesotum, Mahomet, and this Saturday, East End Tavern in Monticello.
April 26, 2012
Long time, no update - so what's on tap? For starters, we're excited to be a part of Unionfest 2012, at the Illini Union, tomorrow night! We open the festivities on the food court stage (located in the basement) with a set from 8:00-8:30. Saturday, barring rain, we'll be playing along the Illinois Marathon trail. And next Saturday (Cinco de Mayo), we have a big show at Mike 'n Molly's with our friends The Sugar Prophets. We're planning on it being an outdoor gig in the beer garden, so fingers crossed on good weather!
MARCH 19, 2012
Had a great time at Uncle Buck's Sports Bar in Mahomet for our St. Patrick's Day gig - looking forward to setting up a performance there this summer, a really fun crowd made it a great evening. We are returning to Cowboy Monkey THIS FRIDAY; it's a rescheduled show from January 27, when strep throat sidelined Mike C. Two other great bands, Neoga Blacksmith and Huck Fate, will be playing as well. We're sandwiched in the middle, with our set beginning around 10:30pm. See you Friday!
MARCH 5, 2012
Our ENTIRE television performance is up on YouTube - we performed 4 songs and all of them went over great. A big, big thank you to Rob Collins, Cynthia Schweigert, and the rest of the folks at WCIA for being so accommodating. We'll head back there sometime in the future. A great gig followed that evening at Fat City Bar & Grill, a place we can't get back to. Tonight we're hosting an open mic/jam at Boomerang's Bar & Grill in Urbana, and Saturday night we'll be at Last Chance Saloon in Tolono. The gigs keep coming . . .
FEBRUARY 27, 2012
Big week ahead! We are making our television debut on Friday morning, appearing on WCIA/WCIX's Morning Show at 8am. The 8-9am hour of the show is broadcast on WCFN, so check your listings to see where it's at on your cable provider. That same evening, we'll make our debut at Fat City Bar & Grill in Champaign, with music starting at 9:30pm. Make us your final destination on a fine Unofficial Friday evening.
FEBRUARY 16, 2012
2012 got into full swing on February 3 at The Stop in Urbana, a new venue in town we look forward to playing regularly. Check out the debut performance of our newest original, Scallywag Stomp. In the meantime, we are about to embark on a barrage of dates throughout the area. Champaign, Urbana, Sidney, Tolono, Mahomet, Paxton . . . and hopefully stretching further and further out. It all begins next Friday, February 24, at one of our favorite places to play, Memphis on Main. You can find all of our upcoming shows on the GIGS page.
JANUARY 30, 2012
So we had to postpone our gig at the Monkey last Friday, which we are very, VERY sorry for. Michael had strep throat and just couldn't shake it. Luckily, we have THIS FRIDAY at The Stop in Urbana to get right back at it, including the debut of a new original we call "Scallywag Stomp". It's some heavy shit, friends. In the meantime, check out ALL the upcoming gigs we have, all the way through our appearance at the Taste of C-U in June. Good times ahead, so get on board and enjoy the trip with us.
JANUARY 18, 2012
A belated Happy New Year to everyone! We're lining up gigs throughout 2012, beginning with Friday, January 27 at the Cowboy Monkey. It's an early gig, so we encourage you to get to Cowboy Monkey by 8:30. Official set time is 9-10pm, but we'll try and get thet set started a little earlier. For a full list of gigs lined up so far, click here.
Also, we'd like to officially welcome Mike Solomon to the band; Mike plays guitar and adds some backing vocals. He adds a ton of versatility to the Decadents' sound, from some blistering lead work to excellent rhythm guitar playing. He also plays guitar and sings with our friends Stone-Faced, and drums with the new local band Dead Possums. Truly a reniassance man - welcome aboard, Mike!
DECEMBER 14, 2011
First off, treat yourself to free downloads of both our WEFT Sessions and EP releases, courtesy of BandCamp. They're available in a variety of formats, at no charge to you. We're approaching the holiday season and already looking ahead to gigs in 2012. We have five upcoming dates over the next few months, beginning with THIS FRIDAY, December 16 at the Canopy Club with our friends from Stone-faced. We're working on lining up more gigs, so stay tuned!
NOVEMBER 22, 2011
We had quite a run of shows over the last month, and are slowing up a bit to work on the album and some new songs. The newest tune is called Doll's Eyes, and has been well-received so far and is an absolute blast to play. In the meantime, we have three upcoming dates over the next couple of months, beginning with Friday, December 16 at the Canopy Club. Ring in the holidays with some rock and roll yuletide.
NOVEMBER 8, 2011
This Friday - EP Release Show at The Iron Post! Our second EP is 'WEFT Sessions', a 4-track release with selections from our October 24, 2011 performance at WEFT Studios. See you Friday!
OCTOBER 24, 2011
Had a lot of fun at the Sidney Saloon on Saturday night! Our busy fall continues TONIGHT as we play WEFT Sessions for the second time. If you're in the Champaign-Urbana area, turn the dial to WEFT 90.1 FM; anywhere else, or if you want to check it out online, go to WEFT.org - show begins right at 10. Then this Saturday, we have our Halloween gig at Mike 'n Molly's with Stone-faced. Music begins right at 9, and it should be a blast. Then, we have three more gigs coming up in November. We're going all out from now through the end of the year, INCLUDING more work in the studio.
OCTOBER 11, 2011
Alrighty, a couple housecleaning things - our Halloween gig at Mike 'n Molly's is now SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29. Unfortunately, we won't be rockin with Altria as they have a show that night too; we'll be lining up some gigs with them in the future, though, so no worries. We have EIGHT - count 'em, EIGHT gigs on the horizon, beginning this Friday at Memphis on Main with Dan Hubbard & the Humadors. We'll go on at 11, but we highly encourage you to get more bang for your buck and check these guys out at 9 - excellent band. This will be a busy fall, and in addition to all the shows, we've started work on our first LP. We're hurtling towards the end of 2011 full speed, so join the ride.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2011
What a show Friday night - despite the rain, people packed the Cowboy Monkey and rocked out with us and The Delta Kings. Major kudos to the crowd during our early stretch of covers; they really helped out on an electrified, Zep-ified 'The Joker' and 'Come Together'. Highlights included 'Straitjacket Blues' and a short, sweet 'Mondo Rock'. The new one, 'You Look A Lot Better (When You're On Your Back)', was well-received, and will only get better the more we play it. A big thanks to the Cowboy Monkey, Delta Kings, and all who showed up. Now time to get to work on some recording - see you October 14th at Memphis on Main!
SEPTEMBER 21, 2011
Our jam-packed fall schedule begins with a bang this Friday at the Cowboy Monkey with The Delta Kings, truly one of the great C-U based rock bands. We will be going on first, at 9:00pm sharp - cover is $5 and it's more than worth it for a night of great rock music. We're especially excited for two reasons: 1) opening for a band of the Delta Kings' caliber, and 2) the debut of a brand new original. We call it "You Look A Lot Better (When You're On Your Back)", and we hope the crowd enjoys dancing to it as much as we enjoy playing it. So come one, come all, to the Cowboy Monkey on Friday. See you there!
SEPTEMBER 7, 2011
Had a lot of fun at Bentley's last Friday night. If you haven't been, you gotta check it out. One of the forgotten gems of Downtown Champaign, it's just a good old Irish pub with an ambience that's hard to top. The next couple of months have some BIG shows on tap. It all begins Friday, September 23 at the Cowboy Monkey; we're playing an opening set for a truly awesome local band, The Delta Kings. If you like rock and blues, then you'll love them - so top to bottom a great night of music on the 23rd. October is chock full with another gig at Memphis on Main (our home-field advantage, it feels like, given the consistently awesome crowds), our second appearance on WEFT Sessions, and a Halloween show at Mike 'n Molly's with Altria. For all show info, check out our GIGS page, and then check us out live!
AUGUST 29, 2011
So unequivocally, Memphis on Main is an awesome joint to play a rock show. A huge thanks to Ben and all the folks at MoM for hosting us, Altria, and Stone-faced on Saturday. The crowds at Memphis on main are consistently awesome, and they helped make it a special night. We have a gig this Friday at Bentley's in Downtown Champaign so be sure to come check us out! It's a great little bar and we anticipate a very special guest appearance.
